West Slope Beer Fest 2019 – Kannah Creek Edgewater – Saturday March 16, 2019
by Kristian Hartter
This year marks the seventh year that Kannah Creek Edgewater has hosted a beer fest featuring breweries from the best slope of our magnificent state. Happening Saturday, March 16, the fest will be $22 and tickets are available at 970Tix.com.
In previous year, this beer fest has been called the Western Colorado Craft Beer Celebration - not a name that exactly rolls off of the tongue. This year, the Kannah Creek folks have decided to re-brand it as the West Slope Beer Fest and even created a hashtag, #westslopebeerfest, but the overall event will be much the same in that it is still the first major beer event of the year. It will still feature only Western Colorado breweries, and the money raised from the expected 700 person attendance will still go to benefit a local non-profit. This year that non-profit is going to be Rivers Edge West, formerly the Tamarisk Coalition, whose mission is to protect and restore riparian lands and who will also have a booth at the festival.
Other expected participants are the 14-20 breweries from the Western Slope who will be there to pour beers. Already committed are Ska, Pug Ryan's, Butcherknife, Aspen Brewing Company, and the new Paonia United Brewing Company among others. Edgewater themselves will be featuring their Monument Irish Ale and a special menu designed to take advantage of the fact that the event this year falls the day before St. Patrick’s Day and featuring Irish Nachos, Individual Shepherd's Pies, Irish Stew, and the Donogal Burger. In keeping with that theme, the Rocky Mountain Scots will also be at the fest performing on their bagpipes.
